But Ms. Alcin, an analyst for hospital systems, says it bears little resemblance to her own family’s experience. But experts say that the narrative of millennials’ paying off debts and wielding greater spending power over the next two to three decades is complex — and leaves out families without enough assets to pass along. CNN —A British university has given back four spears taken more than 250 years ago from an aboriginal community in Australia by explorer Captain James Cook. Trinity College Cambridge permanently repatriated the spears to the La Perouse Aboriginal Community at a ceremony Tuesday, according to a joint statement from the college and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS), which supported the move. “The spears were pretty much the first point of European contact, particularly British contact with Aboriginal Australia,” said Ray Ingrey, director of the Gujaga Foundation, a research organization working in the La Perouse community, in the statement. The resulting British colonization of Australia resulted in the introduction of foreign diseases, displacement, and massacres against the aboriginal people. National Museum of AustraliaSome members of the La Perouse Aboriginal Community are direct descendants of those who crafted the spears, according to the statement.

Eric Hovde, the Republican banking executive challenging Senator Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, may be developing a problem with older voters. The bank he leads, Utah-based Sunwest, last month was named as a co-defendant in a California lawsuit that accuses a senior living facility partly owned by the bank of elder abuse, negligence and wrongful death. Mr. Hovde’s campaign called the suit meritless and said it was farcical to hold the chairman and chief executive of a bank responsible for the actions of a business that it seized in a foreclosure in 2021. Whatever its merits, the suit might have been largely irrelevant to Mr. Hovde’s political campaign had he himself not boasted recently of having gained expertise in the nursing home industry as a lender to such residences. In comments this month in which he suggested there had been irregularities in the 2020 election, Mr. Hovde drew on that experience to say that residents of nursing homes “have a five-, six-month life expectancy” and that “almost nobody in a nursing home is at a point to vote.” Those remarks were quickly condemned by Democrats in Wisconsin and by the former Milwaukee Bucks star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

When the Masters Tournament commenced on Thursday, featuring 89 competitors, there was exactly one Black golfer in the field: the one we all know, Tiger Woods. Beyond that, the field for the 88th Masters didn’t look all that different from the previous 87. Sifford, who is often referred to as the Jackie Robinson of golf, became the first Black P.G.A. remains woefully inaccessible to Black golfers and has made only marginal and inadequate efforts to diversify its ranks. The P.G.A.’s tournaments and its professional golf shops needs to take concrete steps to look more like the America it purports to represent.

Cole Brings Plenty, who starred in "Yellowstone" spinoff "1923," has died at the age of 27. The nephew of "Yellowstone" star Moses Brings Plenty was reported missing earlier this week. Brings Plenty was found dead on Friday (April 5) in Johnson County, Kansas, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office. Following the news, Moses Brings Plenty shared a statement to Instagram on Friday evening on behalf of the family, written by his brother, Joe Brings Plenty. Brings Plenty was introduced as Pete Plenty Clouds in the final two episodes of Taylor Sheridan's "Yellowstone" prequel series, "1923," aired last year.

But an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, “Hidden Faces: Covered Portraits of the Renaissance,” reveals how many works of art from the period were deliberately covered by painted panels or shutters, or contained additional compositions on their reverse side. “These multisided and covered portraits have never been the subject of an exhibition before,” said the show’s curator, Alison Manges Nogueira, in a video call with CNN. On the reverse of this portrait, the artist Hans Memling painted one of the first independent still lifes, according to the exhibition. The media company that Donald Trump recently took public is suing its co-founders, accusing them of failing "spectacularly" to get the company off the ground and then trying to "thwart the deal." In February, Moss and Litinsky sued Trump Media in Delaware Chancery Court over their stake in the company. They made "wasteful decisions" that caused "significant damage" to Trump Media and a decline in DWAC's stock price, the company claims. Trump Media calls the claim that UAV is owed stock "baseless," and says the services agreement Trump signed with UAV in 2021 is no longer valid. Lawyers for Trump Media did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment on the lawsuit.

As tensions fester between China and Taiwan, one elder politician from the island democracy is getting an effusive welcome on the mainland: Ma Ying-jeou, a former president. Mr. Ma’s 11-day trip across China, which was set to begin on Monday, comes at a fraught time. Beijing and Taipei have been in dispute over two Chinese fishermen who died while trying to flee a Taiwanese coast guard vessel in February, and China has sent its own coast guard ships close to a Taiwanese-controlled island near where the men died. Taiwanese officials expect China to intensify its military intimidation once the island’s next president, Lai Ching-te, takes office on May 20. His Democratic Progressive Party rejects Beijing’s claim that Taiwan is part of China, and Chinese officials particularly dislike Mr. Lai, often citing his 2017 description of himself as a “pragmatic worker for Taiwan’s independence.”On the other hand, China’s warm treatment of Mr. Ma, 73, Taiwan’s president from 2008 to 2016, seems a way to emphasize that Beijing will keep an open door for politicians who favor closer ties and accept its conditions for talks.
